The Astros acquired outfielder Aubrey Huff and $1.625 million from the Devil Rays on Wednesday in exchange for Minor Leaguers Mitch Talbot and Ben Zobrist. Huff is batting .283 with eight home runs, 15 doubles and 28 RBIs in 63 games this season. To make room for Huff in the line up they are sending Jason Lane back to Triple A Round Rock.

At least Jason Lane won't be around to own us, that's the way I look at that. lol

... in all seriousness, that is a nice move for the Astros. Huff is servicable at several positions (3B/1B/RF/LF) and can add another left-handed bat to that lineup.

Jason has been having a really off year. Plus adding that other left handed batter and 3rd base player is key with the way Morgan Ensberg has been playing as well.

Great move for the 'Stros.

Definitely. Ensberg's shoulder still has to be hurting him.. that or when he hurt the shoulder he changed his swing around. I really don't get to see enough Astros games to tell.

It's his shoulder but he won't admit it.

Shoulder injuries are tough. A lot of times guys are afraid to let loose with it once they are healed.

I know one of our prospects J.J. Hardy had rotator cuff surgery a couple years ago, and when he played last season he was taking baby hacks at pitches until about mid-season when he finally let loose and his BA went up from barely .200 and he was hitting about .320 for the second half, parking him at .247 for the season.

Russell Branyan had some shoulder issues last year and he never was really right. He scuffled mightily, even though he'd go on the DL, come back, go back on the DL, he was never really right.

So how does this affect my fantasy team? I have Ensberg and Huff. Which one is going to become the utility guy in Houston?

In all honesty our real utility player is Chris Burke but go with Huff.

Well, I'm just wondering if one of them (or both) is going to be playing every day or if they will both become part time guys.

Huff will cut into Ensberg's time probably more than anyone.

So whose spot in the lineup will Huff be occupying?

Maybe third baseman Morgan Ensberg's.

"It's something we have to talk to Morgan about," Purpura said. "Obviously, [Huff's] going to cut into his playing time. The thing with Morgan is he hasn't admitted to having a lot of shoulder problems. He hurt his shoulder; I don't know if that's still affecting him."
-- from the article on the Astro's site.

They could also put Huff in right to replace Lane.

I think they will put him in Lane's spot. Even though Tony said that I can't really see it.
I think we will see both Ensberg and Huff for a little while anyway.

If nothing else, Huff is an insurance policy in case Ensberg's shoulder gets worse.
